Going paperless can help improve the margins of employee benefits

If there's one thing that a benefit package requires, it's an intense level of documentation. Between the papers that need to be filed with financial institutions and various government agencies, most offices likely don't have any pages remaining with which to generate their own internal records. However, going paperless can be one of the best decisions that human resource departments and employers ever make.

One reason is that it makes sharing information so much easier. The process of going paperless often involves setting up protocols so that records and documents can be transferred without the need for a postal service. This will prepare organizations to move around pieces of information without needing to wait for deliveries or receipts. Instead, data can be automatically updated via computer.

Paperless human resource departments are also very helpful for making sure that mistakes aren't made about policies or coverage plans. Handwriting can be unclear, mail can be lost and pages can go missing, but it is hard not to know immediately that something has gone amiss when information is kept on databases. I couldn't agree more. There is an entire industry (electronic enrollment) that is boomind due to the fact that going paperless saves time, money, and liability. Recent studies show that in the last year, SaaS company valuations grew twice as much as valuations of legacy software companies rooted in the client-server world (http://gigaom.com) And the trend shows not sign of stopping.
