While many small business owners may offer employee benefits to their workers, they don't offer certain technological advantages to their customers, which could ultimately affect their bottom lines.

According to a recent poll conducted by vSplash, 98 percent of small business owners say they do not have websites that are amenable to mobile devices. This may come at a cost for company executives, as a separate poll found that 75 percent of those who frequented websites that were "mobile-friendly" were more likely to return to that site as a result.

"Every industry study we're seeing points to a very robust use of smartphones and tablets for holiday shopping this year," said Ben Seslija, CEO of bMobilized, which helps small business owners turn their websites into ones that can be accessed through mobile devices. "Most small and medium-sized business owners … are simply unaware that sophisticated turnkey solutions now exist in the marketplace."

Similar to employee benefits for workers, these types of investments may result in greater customer loyalty, a key aspect to any successful business venture.
